What happens in your Sunday meetings?
The 'worship' time is for us to express our love and thanks to God. At times, it can be loud and joyful;
at other times it is quieter and more reflective. Whatever stage you are at in your relationship with
God, we invite you to join in with the worship as much as you feel able. The music is fairly modern but
includes some hymns as well. We encourage people to sing along - words are projected onto screens to help you.
The most important person at all our meetings is God himself. This means that meetings are unpredictable - very often,
God's power has changed our lives and our plans in unexpected ways. We regularly pray for people to be healed from all
sorts of illnesses, and have seen many amazing results with our own eyes. If you need God's power to heal you or to help
you overcome life's difficulties, you can expect answers here.
Everyone can take part in our meetings. We encourage people to pray, start a song, share a brief story about
how God has helped them, and tell us what they feel God wants to say to us.
The messages on Sunday morning are relevant to life today. We take the teachings of the Bible and turn them
into challenges for daily living. We often discuss the Sunday message during the next week's Cell
Group meeting.
Is it all suits, ties and fancy hats?
Our style on Sunday morning is very casual. You can expect to see people of all ages wearing jeans,
casual shirts etc. Ties are rare, and suits are even more rare! There is no need to feel nervous
about what to wear - we want you to feel comfortable as you enjoy the service.
What are 'Wild Vine' groups?
Wild Vine groups are self-starting voluntary groups that meet together for a range of purposes - for fun, for support
or to help the community. They are based on the image of a wild vine that spontaneously grows and spreads.
Why have Wild Vine groups?
Many thousands of congregations around the world meet in small groups often called 'cell groups'. Like
them, we recognise that a Sunday meeting is not the only way to help everyone get to know
each other and grow in their relationship with Jesus. However we are currently keen to let these groups
form, grow and finish as naturally as possible.
How many Wild Vine groups are there?
We don't know! Some groups are long-term, others may be short-term only (e.g. a group of friends attending a night class
or helping clear litter and tidy up an area of the town). Some people are in more than one Wild Vine group.
Here are some examples of recent or current groups:
- A Bible-study group called 'B3' that meets for friendship and learning.
- A group that organises country walks and bike rides.
- An Italian cookery club. (mmmm!)
- A group for self-employed people, for support and friendship.
- A prayer group focused on local ethnic minority communities.
